Newberry, S.C.; April 8, 2021 – A Newberry man will spend the next decade in prison after he was found guilty of domestic violence Wednesday following a two-day trial in Newberry County, 8th Circuit Solicitor David M. Stumbo announced Thursday.  The case was among the first criminal cases tried to a jury anywhere in the state with the resumption of jury trials this week in South Carolina courts.

Greenwood, S.C.; March 19, 2021 – Three men were sentenced to a total of 30 years each after pleading guilty Thursday to several charges related to a string of violent armed robberies that occurred just before Christmas in 2019, 8th Circuit Solicitor David M. Stumbo announced Friday morning.

Laurens, S.C.; December 11, 2020 – A Laurens man will spend the next 22 years in prison after pleading guilty Thursday afternoon to charges stemming from an incident in which he shot a law enforcement officer, 8th Circuit Solicitor David M. Stumbo announced Friday.

Newberry, S.C.; November 18, 2020 – A Newberry man received a sentence of life without the possibility of parole after a Newberry County jury found him guilty Thursday of several charges stemming from a hostage standoff at the Vocational Rehabilitation Center in Newberry, 8th Circuit Solicitor David M. Greewnood, S.C.; November 16, 2020 – A Greenwood man was sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty Friday morning to charges stemming from a 2019 triple homicide in Abbeville County, 8th Circuit Solicitor David M. Stumbo announced Monday.

Abbeville, S.C.; October 20, 2020 – An Abbeville man was sentenced to 22 years in prison after appearing in court to plead guilty then absconding from his sentencing hearing, 8th Circuit Solicitor David M. Stumbo announced Tuesday.
