Greenville man sentenced to life for 2013 murder of young mother
Laurens, S.C.; December 11, 2015 – Eighth Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo announced Friday that a Greenville man was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of the murder of a young mother of two from Simpsonville.
Darrell Raines, 35, of Greenville, was found guilty of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime for 2013 killing of 31-year-old Myranda Southern.
Chick-Fil-A drive-thru truck thief convicted and sentenced to 20 years
Greenwood, S.C.; November 19, 2015 – Eighth Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo announced Thursday that a Ware Shoals man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after a Greenwood County jury found him guilty of five criminal charges stemming from a July 2015 criminal rampage that spanned three Greenwood business establishments, including the Chick-Fil-A Drive-Thru and Frank’s Car Wash on Montague Avenue.
8th Circuit Veterans Court office opens at Greenwood County Vetreans Center
Greenwood, S.C.; November 11, 2015 – The Veterans Court Diversion Program for the 8th Judicial Circuit will now be operating out of an office in the Greenwood County Veterans Center in Uptown Greenwood as part of a continued partnership with that agency. The program will provide an alternative to standard prosecution in cases where the defendant is a United States military veteran who is eligible for Veterans Administration benefits.

October 14, 2015; Greenwood, S.C. – Eighth Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo led a panel discussion on the campus of Lander University to discuss “Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect for Mandated Reporters.”
The seminar was presented by the University of South Carolina Children’s Law Center.
Abbeville child molester convicted, warrant issued for his arrest
Eighth Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo announced Wednesday afternoon that an Abbeville jury has found Shane Alexander Washington, age 29, of Greenwood, South Carolina, who failed to appear in court and was tried in his absence, guilty of criminal sexual conduct with a minor first degree. Before the trial, a Bench Warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to show for his initial trial scheduled in December 2014.
